The sun may be shining and you are feeling the warmth of summer approaching but it appears that no one has told the sea it’s time to heat things up.
It is so warm on the beach you may feel brave enough to walk along the sand without your coat or you may even feel it’s tropical enough to roll up the legs of your trousers.
It is entirely possible that some of the extra brave folk amongst you might decide to dip a toe in the water. Few of you would intentionally do what the guy in the picture is doing; one can only assume he is either crazy or (more likely) he was up-turned by a freak wave.
We know you are a sensible lot, but we have lost count of the amount of times someone has rushed up the coastal path from the beach with chattering teeth and soggy trousers. As they turn blue with the unexpected coldness of the sea our pink pub on the headland must act as a beacon of toasty warm solace.
Our pinkness attracts them like a cold moth to a warm flame and luckily for them we know just what they need.
Firstly a nice hot chocolate and some homemade fudge cake MUST be ordered. Then they need to find a quiet corner to sit down, dry off and soak up the warmth of the Bowgie atmosphere. Once they have consumed the chocolate feast we guarantee they won’t feel numb with cold …. in actual fact they may possess a new confidence and be filled with the desire to take on the might of the sea once more! If that’s the case, the Bowgie Inn at Crantock will still be here waiting to offer assistance to cold and wet seafarers a second time, but we feel we should point out – the sea ALWAYS wins.
